Help welcome guests to Brookside for another 50 years

Help welcome guests to Brookside for another 50 years image

Dear members (and friends!) of Brookside,

It has been a really exciting year at Saratoga County History Center!

Fitted out with professional exhibitions, running frequent and quality programs, refining our collection, expanding our school programs — it has been a year marked by major progress in this, the year that Brookside Museum turned 50 years old.

Happily, we have operated solidly in the black, no mean feat when you remember it is just five years ago that our fiscal condition was so poor that the board considered closing! We budget carefully, we adhere to it, and we very much hope to add the salary of an executive director within the next year or so.

Each year we have asked our constituents to dig deep for the Annual Appeal. These funds, which are outside our costs of operating, allow us to attack special projects — and to bring our very important 1792 building to fully stable, weathertight, and functional condition.

Having restored the grand porch, installed storm windows, and rehabilitated water-damaged rooms on the second floor, we now look ahead to a professional overhaul of our parking lot (which in certain winter seasons becomes, unavoidably, a sheet of ice).

Your gift at this time will go towards this major project as well as more minor undertakings. Without a doubt, you will be helping to preserve, and continue to welcome guests to, one of our region’s most significant landmarks—the first hotel in a county that remains beloved by tourists and vacationers.

Will you help us continue the preservation work that has accomplished so much in the past three years?

Thank you for your support.
